Invitation to the 10th SEAWE

A series of international symposia on Southeast Asian Water Environment has been successfully organized since 2003. These symposia attracted numbers of researchers, policy makers, NGO workers and graduate students in the world, where the participants exchanged impressive and invaluable body of knowledge concerning environmental issues on water in Southeast Asia.

We are pleased to announce the Tenth International Symposium on Southeast Asian Water Environment, scheduled to be held at Hanoi, Vietnam from 8 to 10 November 2012. This symposium is organized by Research Center for Water Environment Technology (RECWET) in the University of Tokyo (UT) and Southeast Asian Center for Water Environment Technology (SACWET) in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE). Cooperation with several relevant research projects is scheduled so that this event could become more attractive with a lot of integrated idea and hot information.

The purpose of this Symposium is to provide a forum for discussion and exchange among researchers/practitioners in Environmental Technology and Management and related areas from the Asian Region and to promote interaction among researchers from Asia-Pacific countries, Japan and other parts of the world. In addition, an interesting technical tour is specially planed by HUCE on the first day of symposium, which is expected to promote intercommunion among participants as well as introduction of local situation of water environment management.

We do hope that, through the Symposium, a strong network or partnership with active local agents will be established, and our colleagues in Southeast Asia will learn more from the experts of other countries to manage the water environment of the region. From the Seventh symposium, the Award for Asian Young Professional on Water Research was initiated with a support from the Ohgaki Scholarship fund. The Award is given to distinguished young professionals who demonstrate the most outstanding and promising performance in the symposium, and will be invited to the next symposium.

On behalf of the Symposium organizing committee, we would like to invite interested researchers/experts to send their contributions/papers to the Symposium and actively disseminate this announcement to potentially interested people/organization.
